What's happening with iPod buffer?
« on: December 10, 2006, 12:50:03 AM »
Hi.
I really don`t understand. I just put one single song to play, in loop. No others songs in current playlist, just one, with repeat all or repeat one mode.
So I go in debug > audio thread to see the buffer info. The song was filled in buffer by 5 times, and after played this 5 times, the HD spined and filled up the buffer again...  Why this? Is the same song?
In Apple`s firmware this don`t happens. You play one song infinitely and the HD has no need to fill the buffer again.
My iPod is a video 5G 60gb. Can anybody help me, please?

It is a bug. I confirm the same behaviour on iriver H120. Could you please fill a bug report on the tracker?

Same here on H340... I'm sure this is not intended behavior.

another odd thing though it cant be counted as a bug. once music plays and you press stop, after pressing play again it rebuffers also (which is not needed if you dont change the playlist or start anything else)

Exactly. MiniDisc units start up right away if you just hit Stop then Play soon after, without the buffer emptying. The Rockbox response when the buffer isn't empty should be straight-away playing just like when you unpause.
