New iPod 5G wps called iRocker, based on iRock by Gaston
« on: August 06, 2006, 11:07:18 PM »
Hello everyone,

I really liked the basis for Gaston's iRock v2 wps and theme(http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/WpsIpod5g#iRock_v2), but there were a few things I would have liked different. I didn't know anything about making wps's, so I set out to learn, and in a couple hours, tweaked Gaston's theme to my liking. The formatting of information is closer to that of the iPod's original firmware, having the track info listed Track Title, Artist, and Album from top to bottom. There are a few other changes too, like 12 hour time format, volume bar from the escape pod wps, and the next song icon from the jBlackGlass theme by PiesJulius. As well as minor text formatting adjustments.

I can't figure out how to upload it to the wps gallery, but here's a screenshot:

I would really like to upload it to the gallery, so any help with that would be appreciated. It displays album art the same was as Gaston's original theme, and covers the slightly visible iTunes icon. It also requires the same patches as his original theme.

Let me know what you think! I call it iRocker.

FF

edit: after finding Gaston's original thread about his theme, I think there's some stuff in this one that many people wanted. Also I might as well tell you everything I changed: I moved the shuffle icon and did a little rework; I changed the calendar icon; battery icon now evenly filled, with no "blank" battery; "N on N" changed to "N of N" and moved to center above the progress bar; removed total time, moved remaining time to left aligned above progress bar, more consistent with the iPod's original firmware; updated "hold" icon to be a little better looking; no more "playlist" icon; updated ID3 tag display not to show "N/N." before track name, and no longer displays the year after the album name; removed "Rockbox" from top bar; replaced "Rockbox" on main background with Apple logo.

Wow, I had no idea there was so much. Anyway, if you want it, help me upload it!

That's exactly what I did. While there was a little more work involved, that's the general idea.

FF

ps. just wait for my next theme, complete build by myself.

THe song progress bar screws up in the last 10th of the song it goes up a bit with a red line

---------------

It be real cool if you could do that thing irock does (AA, no AA) thingy in Escape Pod, cause the progress bar looks way cooler in that

Downloaded the theme and the patches but cant seem to get the patches installed. The graphics are all misaligned. Do I follow the Applying Patches instruction in the Wiki? I tried but can't seem to get it to work. Thanks.

Your best bet is to use a pre-compiled build that contains the patches you need.  Look in the unofficial builds forum and you will find threads where you can download such builds.

There is no "Applying Patches" wiki page, so I can't tell what you might have tried and what might have gone wrong if you tried to apply patches yourself.

Love your theme ;D except for one thing :'(: it doesn't use the original iPod Video font. Is there anyway you would consider using the MyriadPro-Regular font or is that to much  copyright hazard? I have an .otf and .ttf version of the font but can't convert it to the fnt format my self. Me no understand how  ???
