Can't access my X5 after puting rockbox firmware on it
« on: August 05, 2006, 07:54:27 PM »
Hi all,

unfortunately I followed the instructions on the wiki site step by step:

http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/IaudioBoot#Installation

So I installed the rockbox firmware without having the second part of the files in the root directory.

Now I am unable to connect my X5 via USB to complete the rockbox installation nor to reinstall the original iaudio firmware!

On start up it only says:

Rockbox boot loader
Version 2
Batt: 4.10 V
Loading firmware
Result: -1

then it turns of.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Maik

just connect your X5 using the usb cable. it should just boot up the original firmware. then finish putting the rest of the files in.

i dont know if this will work because i used the dual boot. but i think it should work.

It seems that you only installed the bootloader so everything is working fine, you just didn't put the actual Rockbox firmware on your X5 so it had nothing to load. :P Download the latest firmware (http://download.rockbox.org/daily/iaudiox5/rockbox-iaudiox5-20060805.zip), extract it to the root on your X5 and you are good to go. 8)

Thank You for the quick answers!

My fault: It was not possible to connect via USB, because I used a wrong port on the device.

Only over the usb cable in conjunction with the port replicator I am able to transfer the missing files (The usb port directly on the X5 seemed to be disabled).

Again, many thanks for Your support!

You must have plugged it into the USB-OTG socket and not the actual one. The way you're supposed to do it is via the subpack. ;) The subpack is essential to keep an updated X5. :)
