Playlists acting strange
« on: May 22, 2024, 10:00:55 AM »
I don't know when this started, but I used highlight the playlist I wanted, selected it, and scrolled to where/which track I wanted to start with, selected it and away I went.
Now, when I select it, it starts playing from a random track.
Is it a setting I screwed up?
Also, when I then go back into the playlist (long hold select, then view current playlist and scroll to track, and select it, it doesn't drop to the now playing screen, it stays highlighted on the track within the playlist.
Make sense?

Are you selecting the playlist in the playlist catalogue or via the "files" menu?

If you select a playlist as a "file" it starts playing it immediately, you only get the chance to view the playlist if you pick it from the playlist catalog (something which I personally feel maybe could be changed, so that it works the latter way when you pick it via "files" as well)

No, ah ... through regular channels. From the playlist catalogue.

Don't have any answers then.  It works as it should for me (though, as I say, it would be good if it worked that way for playlists selected via files as well).  Maybe something got broken in a recent change?

Checking it, I'm using 20240510 (on ipod classic), and playlists work as expected.

Maybe you have inadvertantly turned on a Shuffle setting?

My observations (using an iPod Classic) are that when you play a track from a playlist via the Playlists Catalog, the screen automatically switches to the WPS.  But when you play a track from the Current Playlist context menu, the screen stays on that context menu instead of switching to the WPS.  I'm guessing that the latter behavior was decided upon in order to allow multiple manipulations of the Current Playlist without having to use multiple clicks to repeatedly return to it.

This reminds me that I recently noticed that in Settings->General Settings, the WPS is spelled out as "What's Playing Screen".  I don't recall ever seeing it as anything but "While Playing Screen" (e.g. Settings->Theme Settings->While Playing Screen).  I think I kind of like "What's" better than "While" for that screen.

Thank you gentlemen for the replies ... FINALLY figured it out.
One of these updates changed the action/effect of bookmarks (hint); as I listen to audiobooks 99% of the time, I recently noticed when you start a file that has an attached bookmark, it starts at that point ...
Unknown to me, (well at some months ago known to me), I forgot completely I had actually had set 2 or 3 bookmarks for certain playlist files, so needless-to-say, what I started them ...
REALLY sorry to start this, although I must say I do like the "new" bookmarks.
