View buflib allocs - Sony Walkman A?
« on: December 16, 2023, 12:12:48 PM »
Hi,

my old rockbox device bit the dust recently

Just installing rockbox today on a new device

I'm not seeing view buflib allocs, as was the case on my old device

Can someone remind me if the view buflib allocs is a build specifc setting?

Thanks

It used to be included in normal builds but it's now disabled by default.

If you want to enable it you need to build from source, and uncomment the BUFLIB_DEBUG_PRINT define in firmware/include/buflib.h.

Thanks

I managed to find an older build which now displays buflib allocs

So I have two Sony a25's long story short they have bricked themselves, USB attack most likely
JTAG resurrection a possibility?
Can anyone recommended a walkman repair shop?

Anyway I am now on an older a15

The serial numbers of the bricked a25s ended with 521 and 084

This working a15 ends with 911

The values I am seeing in buflib are quite different to the a25s

I'm just trying to wrap my head around what the variables are that are causing me to see different values

a15 vs a25?
Different serial numbers?
Different Sony firmware?
Different rockbox build?
Different rockbox theme?

Hi,

So on the left hand side in the images below is the a15 (911)

And on the right is the a25 (084)

Could someone please explain to me the likely reasons I am seeing different values?

If it is too impolite to explain for nada like reasons, please  pm me instead

I don't have it with me at present but, I  have an old mac 6/7 series  iPod classic (the one with out ~ a camera)
Trouble with it if I recall correctly, one of the bufflib allocs would cause an s3 suspend sleep hibernation like state where the jog wheel wouldn't wake it up
Had to plug it in to recharge and wait for it to wake up
So you could call this my narcolepsymacipod

Has anyone ever had the same issue? Looking if there might be some patch I could apply (if it still happens when I get round to pulling it out of storage)   in a cvgalaxy farvfar away (terrible joke) so it might be a while before I see it again,
FYI it had been moded (not by myself) so it had a SSSD harddrive inside
