e200V2 No USB Connection

Other than the obvious (H/W failure), anyone ever had the problem, that when connected to a PC/MAC there IS NO connection - it just charges? Happens in Rockbox OR Original Firmware - as if it were set, somewhere, to charge only.
I've something on the internal drive that I would like to get before I system re-format it.

You can still access the internal drive via the SD card slot.

Tried 4 cables, 3 laptops, 2 OS's, 1 PC http://forums.rockbox.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif
Cleaned the connector, but haven't taken it apart to look closer.
I'm wondering if it could be a mangled OS/Firmware and that a format will repair it. Just want the recording on it.

You can copy anything you want to the SD card, even the . rockbox folder.

How do I GET to the .rockbox directory?
I see everything but, via the files option.

Thank you. I looked into the option ONCE 15 years ago - I think - found nothing I needed and have never looked at it since.

now what to do with the one that can not connect ...
