« on: May 18, 2020, 10:57:46 AM »
Hello guys, have I misunderstood something?

For these players, Rockbox runs well, has a complete manual and is supported by RockboxUtility:
Apple: iPod 1g through 6g (Classic), iPod Mini 1g and 2g, iPod Nano 1g and 2g
Archos: FM Recorder, Ondio FM, Ondio SP, Player/Studio, Recorder
Cowon: iAudio M3 series, iAudio M5 series, iAudio X5 series
Creative: Zen Mozaic, Zen X-Fi, Zen X-Fi Style, Zen X-Fi3
iriver:x H10 series, H100 series, H300 series
MPIO: HD300
Olympus: M-Robe 100
Packard Bell: Vibe 500
Philips: GoGear? HDD1630, GoGear? HDD6330, GoGear? SA9200
Samsung: YH-820, YH-920, YH-925
Sandisk: Sansa c200, e200, Clip, Clip Zip, Clip+, Fuze, Fuze+
Sony: NWZ-E360 series, NWZ-E370 series, NWZ-E380 series
Toshiba: Gigabeat F/X series

I can't see Sony in the rockbox installer utility...
Can someone help me with this or explain to me why its not on the list?

I don't think any of the Sony players are supported by rbutil, or have a model-specific manual.  So the text on the front page is wrong, and all of the Sonys are considered "unstable".

And I who really had my hopes up :) It says in the 3.15 release notes https://www.rockbox.org/wiki/ReleaseNotes315 that the Sony NWZ Linux devices are now stable, I don't know what they mean by that?

"Stable" in rockbox parlance means that everything works (and works well), and there is both a manual and automatic installer support in rbutil.

The Sony targets generally work quite well, but there remains no manual, and there is no automatic installer support.  So to get rockbox onto them, you will need to do a bunch of things by hand.  It's documented, and works, but isn't automatic.

(The same can be said about most other recent targets too.. the only reason they're not "stable" is that automatic installation features aren't available..)
