Method to make config "read only" or to reset on boot

Is there a way to make the config.cfg file in /.rockbox "read only" when using the player (i.e. settings can only be changed through notepad during USB connection), or somehow make it so that on each boot, the player defaults to the config file I have set up? I ask because, while I have a sync method set up on my PC to always overwrite the player's config file with the "proper" one, when on the road sometimes settings get changed especially if others are using it, and it'd be nice to have a way to just reset it to the settings I prefer by a simple reboot or some other method.

This might just be a throwaway thread, because I'm assuming I'll probably get a "it's not technically possible".

Player is an iPod 7 160GB, though I suppose that's irrelevant given the nature of the question.
