You don't need to use umount, since eject automatically unmounts.

If that's true it must have quietly changed. It used to complain if the device was still mounted.

It seems at least the second release unmounted.

i fixed it using fsck

$ ~ lsblk
then see what is the name of mount point (it changed every time that you plug the ipod in your computer)

$ ~ fsck /dev/the-mount-point-name

like:

$ ~ fsck /dev/sde1

answer the questions with 1 and apply it
