independant statusbar background?

it wouldn't be to horribly complex to implement the ability to give the statusbar its own background would it?

the only problem i can think of might be the image size. i guess as long as it's as wide as the sreen it shouldn't matter how tall it is( within reason of course).

I don't understand. Couldn't you just draw the status bar's background as part of the normal one?

I think you need to wait until the status bar is configurable at which time forground and baground should also be, not sure its going to happen soon.
