Different shuffle modes
« on: August 11, 2008, 02:16:45 AM »
Say that I want to listen to a certain song, but after that I want the next song to be random from my entire databse.
At the moment, if I browse through the database to select the certain song (artist->album->song), in shuffle mode, the next song would be from within that album.

It is possible to shuffle through the entire database by going to database->track, but i'll have to scroll through the entire track list which is time consuming if you have more than say, 1000 tracks

Would it be possible to have two shuffle modes where one would be the same as the one we have now, and be named 'group shuffle' (shuffles within the group selected, so if i select by artist->album->song then it's the album but if i select by artist->song it would shuffle from all the songs by that artist) and the other 'shuffle all' where it shuffles from the entire database regardless of how i selected my first song

The feature is already there on the iAudio X5 original firmware (though not by id3 tag but by directory) in settings -> playmode ->boundary where you can select between all, single, dir, and subdir

I assume that you are already playing from your entire shuffled database when you suddenly decide to want hear a certain song next.

If I wanted to do this, I'd browse to the song and then hold the select button to get to the playlist features. Here I can queue the song to play next – or more it into the next play position. Once played, the previously playing list will continue.
