Help with rockbox installation (ipod 80gb windows)

well I downloaded the rockbox for ipod 80gb & installed the ipod patcher & I put my ipod in diskmode then plugged it in then I extracted the .rockbox into my ipod then I clicked on ipod patcher but it said [err]no ipods found,aborting :'(.

many people have this problem but because they made some mistakes on the other hand I did what I was instructed in youtube the funny thing is that in the video everything is fine!!!! so why don't I get detected !!! I mean the ipodpatcher why doesn't it detect my ipod though it is in diskmode.

they are the same I read them.
but youtube gives visual tutorial which is better thats all. yes I have ipod 80gb 5gen & it is not classic I know ipods for sure & I have ipod 80gb video.

It is very much not better - instructions can change, and we have no control over what some random person sticks on youtube, in fact they are usually completely wrong.

Back to the point, please supply the serial number digits Llorean asked for, and in addition, are you running ipodpatcher with admin/root rights?

though it says here it can work on all ipod classic except 6gen. well I have 5gen so it must work look at the link to see my point.

No. You seem confused. The iPod Video is fifth generation. All iPods sold as the "iPod Classic" are sixth generation. Rockbox cannot run on them.

why don't they make 1 I mean what I;ve seen in mac stores are 4 ipods.
ipod shuffle, ipod nano, ipod classic30gb(not in stores now it became old), ipod classic 80gb, itouch & iphone. I didn't see other products available in iSTYLE. so thats a pitty second of all as I told you the only big video ipod we have are the nano(video) & the classic & others not including the old nano & the shuffle. also why can't rockbox work anyways & why don't they make an installation for classic for most people I know have the classic me too & I want rockbox so much isn't there a software that isn't for the classic but it might work on the classic I mean common at least there must be 1 rockbox that can work if there isn't any then I hope rockbox makes 1 because I spent over 5 hours trying & trying to make it work the silly thing is that iSTYLE knows nothing about rockbox so they weren't a big help for me.

The 30 gig iPod was the "iPod Video". The reason Rockbox cannot run on the "iPod Classic" is because it has completely new insides, and the firmware is encrypted. It will take a lot of people a lot of time to make it work, and right now the people who own Classics, like you, aren't doing the work, and we can't make them do it.

Your only options right now are: (1) Go on eBay and look for a device Rockbox will run on, or (2) get to work on a port to the iPod Classic.

If the professionals who made rockbox don;t know how to make it work on the classic how can I the normal guy make it work!!!!! seriously I mean when you come to a restaurant are you the one that is suppose to cook or is it the cook himself!!!.

This is like a bunch of people going to the park with hot dogs, firing up some grills, and sharing the hot dogs. You're the new guy who came to the park, and said "Gee, I'd really like some hamburgers." So we said "Well, go get some and grill 'em up, we're not stoppin' yah."

No restaurant or professionals involved. "We" are not "supposed to" do anything for you.

I don't think you can compare encryption breaking and embedded systems programming to picking up a pair of tongs.  The former two require specialized skills and knowledge that take years to develop.
