iPod Classic (yes i know its not supported...)
« on: March 19, 2008, 03:10:56 AM »
Firstly, yes i did search. Found a billion people asking if the classic is supported. Its not (yet, i hope) and from what i read theres minimal people working on it (going after bigger issues, i guess).

I will soon be getting a classic, which means no more rockbox for me. This is a rather huge motivator to do anything i can to speed up the porting. I found a few links to threads that were spammed to death and locked, but nothing i can use, so here goes:

What, if anything, can i do once i get my new iPod classic to get porting finished faster?

Is there somewhere (that isnt spammed to death) where i can check progress of other people so im not doing what they did over again?

And for the love of Pizza, can somone _please_ sticky a thread or make a big bold "you have to be blind not to see this" message somewhere obvious so noobs stop asking "will rockbox work on my 6g ipod" (yes i know its on the front page, aparently thats not obvious enough for these people)

Generally a thread in "New Ports" and/or a page on the wiki named like "IpodClassicPort" or "IpodClassicInfo" (doesn't seem to be one) are the "official" latest information.

Seems like there's been almost nil activity on this, due to no developers actually being interested in it (or at least not interested enough to try to crack the encryption).

cool_walking is correct.

The thread in NewPorts *is* the status and lists precisely what needs to be done (in addition to the usual NewPort activity.

There is no other progress. Not because there's "minimal" activity, but because there is *No* activity. No developer owns one.
