Exploded Battery

I was trying to dual boot rhapsody, when the screen faded white, I had no screwdriver to remove the battery to reset it. This was at school. The battery started getting hot, I took it out of my pocket and put it in my locker. As I was walking away from my locker, the battery exploded, grabbing people's attention. I got 3 detentions. It blew the metal back off, stripping the screws. If I got a new battery, would my mp3 player work again?

Well, if the battery was getting hot, it's rather obvious there's a problem.  You also haven't mentioned which player this happened on, so I'm going to assume your Sansa.  You can always hold power for 20 seconds to force it off, though whether it will work again depends on what kind of damage the battery did.  Worse case scenario, you can always buy an e250(R) and swap the daughterboards to get your songs back (dunno if it'd restore DRM stuff though.)
