Title: Mpeg Playback
Post by: podpodpod on April 14, 2007, 07:14:08 AM
Hi

I have tested a few movies on the mpegplayer plugin
They all lag and i can see that the prformance is appaling...does anyone know why this is

Is a possiblilty the fact that I am using a certain build?

Will this be fixed in future?

Performance - performance seems to be noticably worse with the current mpegplayer compared to versions prior to rebuffering and av sync.

Have you converted your videos properly? With a *realistic* bitrate?

And what player are you on? Performance estimates are clearly posted on the wiki page.

On the iPod Video you should only expect 10fps for a full screen video. Did you set it to encode at 10fps?

If i encode at 10fps will the video still be seamless, as in non stuttering...

Thanks

If you encode the video at 10fps, it'll be 10fps. It's not particularly smooth, no. Seriously, Video is not great on the 5G iPod. 10fps is poor, yes, but we tell you CLEARLY that it will be at about 10fps on the wiki page.

The 5G iPod has a very slow processor for the screen size it has to update.
