Hi all,
I'm sorry if this is not the right board - but I think it is a Hardware problem, so I put it here.
I recently bought new headphones (Sennheiser MX-450). After a while I decided to test them. During this I started to hear "clicks". I'm sure they were here also before, but I did not pay attention to them then. Especially disturbing during quiet parts of songs.
So I started to investigate. Those "clicks" are there only when the headphones are connected through remote and when Rockbox is running (i.e. directly without remote, or Original Firmware with/without remote - without "clicks").
Also the frequency/repeating of these "clicks" is different. If I'm in WPS (rwps) it's few times a second (couldn't count exactly). When I'm in the menu the "clicks" are gone (except when I'm navigating though menu with remote - acceptable, as with OF the same happens).
I also tested some old Rockbox builds to see if it was always there. So I took the oldest build I've had on my disk 20060820-2033 - no "clicks" there. Then I took the next oldest I could find 20061017 - "clicks" are present. This happens also with the newest builds from maxwen0 or with original daily builds. So it's not fixed / reported yet.
Any idea what is causing this? (For now, I think it is in the area of Update of the remote LCD, but have no proof whatsoever).
In the meantime another user on iAudiophile.net forum confirmed this also: http://iaudiophile.net/forums/showthread.php?t=12978

Hmmm....you may have to have a look at the H3xx code. They have the ticking issue with the LCD remote. Maybe compile your own?

I do not have an X5, but I have been through the whole "remote ticking" issue with the iRiver units.
Read the following threads:

What may be causing this ticking is an update to the remote display.
On the iRiver Hxx0, if the remote display does not change no ticking is introduced into the audio.
Again, on the iRiver Hxx0 this is a hardware limitation and must be 'worked-around'.
Hope this helps. Good luck! :)

Ok, thanks. Will read them and try to find some similarity with the X5.

I love Rockbox so far but is there any chance this patch (http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/6815?string=x5&project=1&type[0]=4&sev[0]=&pri[0]=&due[0]=&reported[0]=&cat[0]=&status[0]=open&percent[0]=&opened=&dev=&closed=&duedatefrom=&duedateto=&changedfrom=&changedto=&openedfrom=&openedto=&closedfrom=&closedto=) could be included in Rockbox?
Because the ticking is really annoying and I need to use the remote because my screen is broken..
I'm sorry that I kicked such an old thread, but I tried to compile it with the new version, didn't work, and since I'm not a C coder I really don't know how to get it working, so if anyone has suggestions.
Thanks! :)
