Title: Rockbox not being detected in Mac after CF conversion
Post by: sdesales on December 18, 2015, 10:00:12 PM
I have recently switched out from a 30GB iPod HDD to a compact flash card adapter to an SD card. I have noted that both Mac & PC do not detect my Rockboxed iPod as a hard drive. It knows that it's in there but it's not available for some reason. Before the conversion, I had my Rockboxed iPod and it worked just fine with both my Mac & PC. It even switches to USB keyboard when plugged in. Also, most of the time when I plug it in it displays one of three things... 1. The iPod "sad face" 2. Boots in to recovery mode and 3. It boots into the "Use iTunes to restore" page all of which can be navigated through by resetting the iPod. It seems that I was better off using my old HDD. Could anyone help?

Much appreciated,

Sean

This absolutely smacks of filesystem corruption, failing to seat the adapter properly, or filesystem corruption caused by failing to seat the adapter properly.

You might need to ensure that it is correctly seated and functional before closing it back up, and then pack out the adapter plate so that it can't move around at all. Often these adapter plates are quite a bit thinner than the original disk, and in my experience often have very poor tolerances in their connections.
