Title: Bad Checksum. Cant boot rockbox all of a sudden! Please help!
Post by: jeffmangum on July 03, 2014, 08:16:34 AM
I wasnt doing anything with my clip plus. I just plugged it on my pc but kinda panicked cause all my folders are shortcuts but i can still see my files. But on the rockbox file browser, i cant see any files. But i can still play my music.

I did the attrib trick on cmd which i think that corrupted the OS. So now it wont boot up and gets a checksum error and ask to plug in usb cable.

What now?

Also i dont wanna lose my music files there. I dont have any backup.

Can you mount the player over USB in either the Sandisk firmware or Rockbox?  If so, get it mounted and then check the file system for errors.

What do you mean "mount over the firmware"? Should I download the GUI rockbox installation? Should i just reinstall? I dont mind losing the files there anymore.

You mean "mount the player over USB"?  I mean, plug it into USB and check the file system for errors.

You haven't mentioned what OS you're using, but I'm guessing windows.  If so, see:  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/check-your-hard-disk-for-errors

If not Windows, check the documentation for your OS.

Thanks. its successfully scanned. No problems were found.

This was all my pc's fault actually. Turns out i have a malware that turns any plugged in usb device's files to shorcuts.

So should i reinstall the rb os now?
