You need to update the database to clean out the old songs.

Also, sometimes the database will find files that windows left in the recycle bin.

Use the rockbox plugin called disktidy to clean the disk.

The database doesn't get its information from file names, so if files show an artist, that has no effect.

The database gets its information from the ID3 tags embedded in the actual mp3 files.

So to fix what the database finds, you have to edit the tags.

Jumping on other people's post is not going to get you anywhere is it.
Start your own thread and ask a question

Tags go in the mp3 files.

I don't understand your question - the tags are inside the MP3 files - wherever they are, including on the SD card.

The database is a separate thing - information ABOUT the tags that have been found.

what I am saying is when I was taging music to put on the MP3 player I didn't have an micro SD card to use & now I have one I want to know if you tag the music & then put it on the Micro SD card will that work or how does that work

When you tag an MP3 file, the tag is embedded within the file.

Form then on, wherever the file goes, the tag goes too.

The tag is inside the file.  If you move the file, the tag goes with it.  Copy the file to a memory card, internal storage, your hard drive, a CD, email it to someone, it doesn't matter, the tags are INSIDE the file, PART OF the file.
