I have a 5th gen Apple iPod and a Pioneer DEH-2100IB (http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/CD-Receivers/DEH-2100IB) CD player in the car which specifically supports iPod players connected via USB. The manual says it will worth with 5th gen software version 1.3.0.
I'm on RockBox 1.3.0 and have car adaptor mode enabled. It still isn't recognised by the Pioneer deck. Has anyone used similar Pioneer players & figured out how to emulate the iPod software version to convince the player a standard iPod is connected?

If it actually plugs into a USB port and not a special ipod dock connector, it won't work. Only the older line out based ipod interface can be used, the newer USB one is encrypted.

Hmm oddly enough I've never seen the business end of it, just the iPod connector. The photo on the Pioneer site is broken too.

Found a photo of the back of the stereo, green is where the connector for the iPod goes, so no USB.

Given the image above, should I expect this to work since it's not a USB port? Are there any changes or specific version I should try?
