Title: charging and flashing bootloader every time [SOLVED]

Good evening,

I'm running Rockbox 1.2.10 (or this is just the version of the flashing utility?) on my Ipod nano 1st Gen.
Everything is great, but I have one BIG problem: every time I recharge it, the bootloader is gone so the original Ipod firmware starts.
I had to re-flash the bootloader from the flashing utility. Only the bootloader, because Rockbox, music files and playlist are still present.

It happens every time. whether I charge it using the usb port or a wall-adaptor.


Looked for an answer in google and in this forum, but I found no-one suffering this problem.

Am I the only (lucky) one?

Can I do something (different from re-flashing the bootloader everytime)?

I'm guessing that you have the Hold switch engaged when you plug your player in.  This will cause the player to boot into the original firmware.  Are you sure the bootloader is gone, or have you just assumed that it's gone after ending up in the original firmware?

This could be. Next time I charge, I will remember to check it is not locked.

I'm sure. Even if I try to power off ten times, every time I switch it on the original firmware is loaded. Is it enough to be sure?

Once you boot the original firmware (by any method, such as having hold turned on when plugging in as Chronon suggests) you need to reboot the player to get back to Rockbox. The Apple firmware does not power off or restart, it only goes to sleep, so Rockbox has no opportunity to boot. Hold menu and select for several seconds to reset it, and it will boot the bootloader again and start Rockbox.

Nothing has been removed from your device.

Today it happened again, and I was able to check that "select+menu" reboot my ipod in rockbox.
