With new firmware 2010-09-05: Improve battery life on Sandisk Fuzev1. But how much the improvement? According 2010-09-05: it's 14h 44min but this firmware is new and I wonder how long will it last with vbr mp3 playback.

Would think that the only way to have an accurate number would be to test on your specific unit. Trivial with included battery test capability.
-
I'll test it but http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/SansaRuntime page should be updated according the new firmware.
-
It's a wiki: Feel free to post your results after you test your unit.

Why is the battery life using Rockbox so much less than the Sansa firmware (Sansa Fuze v1)?
I get approx 24.5 hours using Sansa firmware but approx 14 hours using Rockbox.
Tested using same 128kbps MP3 album on repeat, volume at middle (similar to my ears), and phones plugged in.

A lot of the power management stuff on the v1 was never implemented.

"2014-09-28: Improved battery life on the Clip v2, Clip+, Clip Zip and Fuze v2"
Why isn't "the power management stuff" being implemented on the Fuze v1?

Why isn't "the power management stuff" being implemented on the Fuze v1?
Lack of interest mostly. The v1 was discontinued a long time ago, not many people use it.

What about this.
"Rockbox aims to be considerably more functional and efficient than your device's stock firmware while remaining easy to use and customizable."
-
What about it?

I think its a convoluted and snarky way of telling us we're lying.
We do, aim for all those things, and no small amount of effort has been spared to attempt to make it a reality. The fact that we might not necessarily be there yet for a small subset of devices doesn't detract from those stated aims, or the fact that in many cases we quite vastly exceed the OEMs performance.

Maybe you should somehow note this issue in your supported devices tables. People might install Rockbox and then think there is something wrong with their battery when there is nothing wrong with their battery. Similarly the usb file transfer issue can be noted.

Both of those are documented on the wiki page.
