Title: Stripped down Rockbox
Post by: Njones on September 19, 2010, 02:51:58 PM
Is there any demand for a stripped down version  for the technicaly inept who only want gapless playback. I don't need games or video on my Fuze. I just need music play back features and a better user interface.

I saw a similar question in the AnythingbutiPod forums.....not sure if funman's reply would help you or not though. Here is a link....http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showpost.php?p=495819&postcount=879

What's your goal, exactly, with a stripped down version? It's not like plugins "get in the way" of using the normal features to any practical extent most of the time.

Simplification not Complication.

Yes. This is why we don't offer a multitude of differently stripped down versions to suit all tastes.

doesn't really answer:

Candidly, I think the easiest way to have a simple Rockbox experience is to choose a simple theme/WPS for your player, and then just to ignore those features you don't want to be bothered with.

Additionally, though, I think it's a good thing to skim through the manual once before/as you first install, to see what feratures actually are there--you might find that something you want is there.  And then, having done so, ignore the rest.

I believe you can just delete the .rock files, right?  ???
(I would not delete anything under viewer however.)
