Title: FM Radio mode on Sansa e250 stinks!
Post by: daldude on June 18, 2010, 11:20:51 AM
Has anyone else noticed that the FM Radio mode in the Sansa e250v1 stinks? The reception is horrible compared to the Sandisk original Firmware, The Sandisk firmware radio had Excellent reception but the RockBox reception is like one of those cheap 5 dollar auto scan radios that don't have a display. Also the way you control the radio is annoying saving pre sets is to dang confusing and complicated, I just want to save the pre sets by frequency and not have to use that worse then cell phone number pad way of entering the text.

Edit: corrected spelling of Sansa in title

You're welcome to help improving the sansa e200v1 radio, we could set you up with the datasheet possibly. Tuning with the e200v1/c200v1 fm chip is a bit trickier than with many of the newer fm chips (like in the ams sansas, the clips, e200v2, fuzes).

For the presets: you don't really have to enter text, you can also create presets without a name. Rockbox just gives you the option to enter text, you don't have to.

The fm preset file is just a text file.  It can be modified with any editor on your computer, if that is easier.

There are also ready-made preset files for various localities that can be downloaded from the FmPresets wiki page: http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/FmPresets

A fix was made today to make tuning more accurate for the FM chip that is inside the e200v1 series, so please try again.
