Title: H332 CF Mod // No partition found [solved]
Post by: NorTheBear on February 11, 2010, 08:40:04 AM
Hello,

I might need you help/technical advice here.

Today I have unplugged my CF modded H332 from USB without having safely removed it from my notebook (to my regret).  Now when it boots the display reads permanently
Code: [Select]
Rockbox boot loader
Version r16446M-080228
Batt: 4,10V
# id[00] = 044A
# id[82] = 0001
# id[83] = 0000
No partition found
I have to press the reset button to shut it down. Though, sometimes a long press on the stop button do as well.

When I plug it back into USB port the display reads
Code: [Select]
Rockbox boot loader
Version r16446M-080228
Batt: 4,10V

Bootloader USB mode
but my notebook does not recognize the device, either.

What could be broken?
Is there any hope that I can repair my H332?

Any expert help/technical advice is much appreciated.

Thanks, Norbert.

[EDIT:] I have to add that I have been using the H332 CF mod for more than 6 month almost daily without any troubles.

It may just be a corrupted partition, but your card is still good. See if this works

1. Plug your H332 to a windows PC via usb.
2. Goto control panel->Administrative Tools->Computer Management
3. Click on Disk Management under Storage

Check if your CF card is identified as a removable media on the bottom right panel. If your CF card is still good, you will see it there but there will likely be an unrecognized partition because of the corruption. You can go ahead and delete the unrecognized partition and reformat the CF card there.

Hope it helps.

hwaitung, many thanks for your advice.

As you predicted, the volume was unknown by the tools I used under Vista. I needed to intialize the 32 GB card first and then I had to format it as FAT32. All data lost, of course. A frequent backup of my data would have helped.

By the way: Is there any recommended block size for the use with Rockbox? I selected Standard and it works but may be there is a preferred block size?

My hope was to recover all the data but at least I have a fully functional Rockbox'd H332 again :)

For all users who comes in the same situation and have a German locale on their computer:

1. Plug your H332 to a windows PC via usb.
2. Goto 'Systemsteuerung' -> 'Verwaltung' -> 'Computerverwaltung'
3. Click on 'Datenträgerverwaltung' under 'Datenspeicher'

Thanks again. Northebear
