Title: So I Purchaced a v2 Sansa e280 from Tigerdirect

The $50 refurbished e280 from tigerdirect is a v2. 

Before ordering I asked customer service if they could tell me more about the firmware.  Of course that was impossible as the items are in the warehouse.

Unless anyone has a good idea of what to do with mine I will be sending it back. As for know this thing is useless to me.

Did you check the original firmware version to be sure it is in fact a v2?  My "v2" refurbished c250 actually turned out to be a v1 with a v2 back plate.

A true "v2" Sansa e200 or c200 will have a firmware version of 03.XX.XX (the XX.XX can be any numbers). "v1" Sansas (which can run Rockbox) will have a firmware version of 01.XX.XX, so when you receive it, immediately check the firmware under System > Info in the OF.

Yes it is most certainly v2.  You can tell as soon as you turn the thing on, the Firmware is just a little different.

You have one of two options now:

1) Return the Sansa, and hit eBay to find a v1, or...

2) Donate the Sansa you got to a Rockbox developer who needs hardware to help get the e200 port more up to speed.

I bought two e200 from a tigerdirect store in toronto ontario (etobicoke, sherway location tigerdirect.ca for info)  $35 cnd for e250 and $66 cnd for e280

I know it's not the same exact model, but I ordered a refurb'd e250 2GB through them not even a week ago and it was a V1. Came loaded with the 01.01.18A OF.

Maybe it's just a luck of the draw? Considering these are refurbs. Might be a large amount of V1's but V2's are still there in some capacity and they are just shipping them with no care for what version number it is (I wouldn't expect them to either. Would be pretty silly)
