I just installed the default release version of rockbox on my ipod 30GB video, and I was creating the database and checking out some settings and stuff, and then when I thought the database was finished, I powered it down to try booting in the apple firmware. I tried booting and it's totally dead. I plugged it in, no response, no charging. It is plugged into powered USB, I don't have a wall charger. Any ideas?

Every now and again with the iPod when you try to boot it won't. If you look very closely and you have to look hard because it only appears on screen for a fraction of a second the "low battery" icon appears. It has been mentioned in the forums but I don't know if there is a known fix for it. Try resetting the iPod and see if that brings it back to like (switch hold on and off then press and hold select and menu for about five seconds).
If that doesn't work I'm not sure what else to do.

He told you to hold Menu+Select for a too-short time. You may need to hold it as long as 30 seconds after toggling hold on and then off. You should also try it a few times, because it will work eventually.

yup...worked! took a couple of tries because the timing on reboot was tricky thanks for the tips (the hold button on off when it wont reboot)
