Title: Copying a few files takes forever
Post by: JEJ on March 08, 2009, 04:02:16 PM
I have a Sansa E250 with a 4 GB microSd card running RB r18607-3.0-080923. Since I don't have an external card reader I transfer files from the internal memory to the card using the copy/paste feature in rockbox.
Today I wanted to add a new Cd to my Sansa and I did as i usually do, copied the songs from the computer to the Sansa memory using the original firmware, turned it off then turned it on and selected files, selected the folder long clicked on it, chose copy and then chose where I wanted to meve the files and chose paste. I remember it gave me some trouble and had to repeat this a few times until it worked. sometimes I chose copy/paste and some others cut/paste.

Finally it seemed as it were working but it was taking more than 10 minutes for a single 40 minute Cd to be copied. I turned the player off by holding the ON/OFF button a long while. Then I turned it on again updated the database and now the files are there, some of them are not playing but I think I can fix that.

My question is has anyopne else experienced this problem? Any fix for this?

If you upgrade to a current build you will find that you can copy directly to the SDHC card using Rockbox.

Yes.  You may want to take a look at this:

So I upgraded and now I have r19569-081223

If I am already running RB and I connect the USB cable, it reboots a couple of times and goes to OF.

If the Sansa is off and I connect the USB cable and turn the player ON, it tries to boot to RB but reboots and goes to OF.

If I hold Select while running RB and plug the USB cable, the Sansa stays on RB but it is not shown as a drive or a player, the computer does not seem to see it.

Any clues on how to solve this?

That is not the current build, that is the 3.1 release.

The current build is built from SVN and is found here: http://build.rockbox.org/

It is weird i could swear I used the Sansa uploader and it downloaded the version that was installed previously, the one that was mentioned that is not the current one on the previous post.

Now I have r20253-090309 and it is working beautifully. Thanks a lot for the help all of you and to the developers, you guys ROCK!!!
