Title: Can I load Rockbox firmware and keep the Sansa front end?

Basically, what I need is what is stated above.  I checked around a bit and couldn't find an answer here or on the Wiki.

I bought this Sansa e260 for a friend of mine and would like her to have the ability to put high capacity cards into it.  However, there is no way she will be able to use the Rockbox front end.

Is there any way at all to add Rockbox's ability to use 32GB cards and still keep the original Sansa functionality?

Sandisk Sansa e260
4GB
Version 01.02.18A

No, Rockbox is a complete firmware replacement.  The only thing you could do is theme Rockbox to look more like it (the WPS anyway) and change keys.

Why? Most people actually like it better (well ... those are the people using it, and the majority of the rest most likely doesn't know about Rockbox. But in any case, only a small amount of people dislike Rockbox. And you can still uninstall it if you don't like it).

I actually do like it better, but she will not. 

The menus are too small, even with the large kit installed, and are somewhat counter-intuitive to someone who is not a technophile-type. 

Plus, the record button does not function with Rockbox like it does by default, and one of the reasons that I got this for her was so that she could quickly and inconspicuously record things.  One of her supervisors at work has been harassing her and I want her to have some evidence in case they terminate her.

Kinda weird, I know.  I do know her well enough to know that she will not have any love for the menu system in Rockbox. 

Hope that makes a little more sense.

You can make the font enormous - I'm not sure what 'kit' you are referring to, but there really are some huge ones out there.

Any ideas to improve menus are welcome.

The record button does function - hold it to enter the recording screen then press it once to start recording.

Anyway, her loss!
