Hi Folks,
after my trusted companion (an ancient Archos Recorder) died, I was in search of a Rockbox-capable replacement and found a 4th Gen. iPod color. Rockbox works like a charm, I just have one issue with charging the player:
I'd like to charge it overnight switched-off, as probably most of you do. However, I am not able to switch it off when plugged in (just a power supply, no computer), the device reboots immediately after shutdown. Likewise the device powers up and Rockbox starts when I insert the cable in switched-off mode.
What might I be missing? I found an option called "accessory power supply" somewhere in the settings, but it is not documented and does not seem to have any effect. Charging with the original firmware booted works as expected.
Cheers,
Tron

The original firmware isn't actually turned off either. It just looks like it is because it clears the screen and suspends. Just set the backlight to turn off and leave it charging while turned on.

Right, I remember this to be one major difference to the Archos.
Just set the backlight to turn off and leave it charging while turned on.
I actually had it this way all day (Rockbox running in pause mode, backlight off) and it only managed to charge it to ~10% or so (it had been completely empty) during that time. That's what convinced me to write that post in the first place.
But I'll certainly try it again.

Well, the other option is to simply allow it to reboot into the original firmware.

Well, that solution was too obvious for me to mention ;-)
But yes, that's what I'm currently doing...anyway, I really thought that there would be a more elegant way.
