Title: Sansa c250 hangs up at connecting to PC
Post by: berenika84 on April 19, 2008, 12:29:55 PM
Hi,

I got my new Sansa c250 and installed Rockbox... everything was going fine, no errors, I copyed mp3 files to this player and turned it off. When I turned it on, it appeard this "Refreshing Database" thing, it was loading for a moment and it stopped suddenly... and no reaction at all! I had to put out the battery just to turn it off...

Right now I can turn on the player, but it CAN NOT be connected to PC, because this "Refreshing Database" shows up immediately and just hangs up. I was wondering if I could uninstall Rockbox, but it seems that I can't do it without linking it with PC.

Thanks for advice :)

http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/SansaE200Unbrick#Recovery_Mode

Enter recovery mode, copy the firmware over, and reboot. If you can then connect it to your computer, run "chkdsk /r" on it.

If that doesn't work, I recommend you enter recovery mode, format the device, then reboot, connect to your computer, and run "chkdsk /r" on it.

Hi, I found this description for c200... but it haven't worked, still the same problem :/

So you connected in recovery mode, copied an original, unzipped firmware to the 16MB partition, disconnected the player, saw the "Firmware updating" message, and then...?  Refreshing database still froze on you?

then I disconnected it from the PC, as it was in description, and then released the "hold" button, and rebooted it... just as instruction said. When I turned in on, everthing seemed to work. But after connecting it to PC, an old message appeared... :/

I guess it's time to format, then.  Can anybody confirm that the formatting procedure is the same for the c200 as it is for the e200?

I just reformatted mine last night, c250.

First make sure you problem is not solved by removing a SD Micro card.

With the Micro slot empty and the unit off, plug it into the PC. When you get something on the screen, unplug it. It should do the database refresh then take you to the Music option. Scroll down to System, select Format and answer yes. Mine formatted in about 2 seconds.

I reinstalled rockbox and it has been working better than ever. Plays a mean game of Suduko too.

OK, the problem's solved! :D

I downloaded the European version, 1.0, of firmware. It was going right. When I rebooted my player I've removed all the files. Propably the problem was because of the files - one or more of them could be corrupted.

Thanks for all advices ;)
