Title: Many <Untagged> songs; Foobar's tagging didn't work
Post by: evanstapler on November 04, 2007, 02:30:34 PM
I just installed RockBox on my 5g 30GB iPod and I love it. The only problem is all of these songs. I backed up every song on my iPod to my computer, tagged them using Foobar, and put them back on, and it didnt solve the problem. How can I Make all of these files have names?

Also, is there a way to put .flac files in the database as an album and tracks, rather than having to go to Files every time??

EDIT: I have searched, which led me to try Foobar, but I didn't find anything for when that didn't work.

Did you initialise the database again after copying back the tracks?

I use "Tag&Rename" for my tag management, but others have recommended the godfather which is free.

Foobar 0.8.3 defaults to writing ID3v1 and APE tags on MP3 files.  (crazy, I know)
If this is the version of Foobar2000 you are using it may be to blame.

Your FLAC files should show up in the database just file as long as they are tagged with vorbis comments.  Again, Foobar2000 used to default to writing APE tags even on FLAC If I Recall Correctly.

I also second the recommendation for Tag&Rename.  Some of the best money I ever spent.

I just saw the album in .flac I had is in the database, so that is solved.

I tried Tag&Rename, but when it was finished it gave me an error that said something along the lines of some could not be tagged, same name in folder (I don't completely recall it...). I assumed this would just leave several songs left as and undid it. I also tried initializing the database which didn't help.

I appreciate your help very much, thank you!

EDIT: Here's the error.
