Title: Browsing a large number of files
Post by: circlechurch on October 15, 2007, 06:29:09 PM
So I just put rockbox on my 80gb ipod video and I basically filled the whole thing with music. As a result, there are a huge number of folders in my root directory, each representing an artist.

Now, in the factory firmware when you keep scrolling really fast it keeps accelerating and you get to the end quickly. That is what I want to duplicate but I am having a hard time doing so. It seems to accelerate a little bit and then level off. So it takes forever to browse to the "z" artists.

Is there a solution or am I going to have to find a different way to organize my music?

You can scroll in the opposite direction to start with 'z' and go backwards.  Another suggestion: you can use the database to search by alphabet.

There's also a scroll acceleration patch in the tracker that needs testing, and might help you a lot.

Thanks! I will give that a try and report back.
