Title: I have a Gigabeat F40 that the screen keeps coming on.

I have Rockbox r14556-070831. The screen keeps coming on at very random times while playing. The blue side buttons light stays off while playing. Very strange ??? Other than that I am loving Rockbox  ;D

Thank you Rockbox for turning a ok MP3 player into a GREAT FANTASTIC MP3 player ;D !!

Does the screen by any chance turn on when a new track starts?

In that case you have turned on:

menu -> settings -> general settings -> display -> LCD settings -> Caption Backlight
