Title: progress on ipod 5.5g video playback?
Post by: Pileot on September 07, 2007, 03:45:23 PM
I know theres a lot of threads asking how to playback videos, i dont need that.

Last time i checked (like january or somthing) rockbox was unable to use the video playback built into the 5.5g iPods. Has progress been made to allow this?

I checked the changelogs but didnt see anything helpful. how much work has been done on this, how long might it take, and is there anything i can do to help?

Nothing can be done with the Broadcom chip in the 5G and 5.5G iPod video. There is no public documentation available on it.

You can boot your iPod to the apple firmware, load your vidoes with "iTunes" and watch them using your iPod and the original firmware, then boot rockbox firmware for all other use.

So do that then. Many of the iPod video users on the forums do this already.
