I installed Rockbox, and it was working great, but decided to uninstall in fear of lose of warranty. I thought I had backed up all original files to a desktop folder, but when I looked there was only my picture and video folder (I know I should have verified). My question is this.
I ran the sansapatcher.exe and chose "U" to uninstall. I then removed the .roxbox folder from my e200. However, I read in another post (there are so many) that in order to have a "true" untraceable (by normal means) uninstall you must replace all files that were orignially on your SANSA e200, especially the .mi4 file which I cannot even find that there is such a file.
Did my steps do a "full" uninstall, or is there more to be done as stated in many forums since I did not back up anything before I installed rockbox.
Files in root of my player are as follows (this info might not be needed, but I am a noob): root.m3u8, version.sdk, version.txt, wmpinfo.xml .....
Folders are as follows: Albums, Music, photo, pictures, playlists, record, recordings, system, tmp, video
Thanks for the help. I know this might be confusing, so ask questions if needed. I will be installing it aback at some point.

By using sansapatcher you removed the rockbox bootloader and when you deleted the .rockbox folder you deleted the actual rockbox firmware and all of its components. I can't see why you would have to replace the sansa mi4 file but if you want to there is a copy available at haxx. Besides, i doubt sandisk will be looking that closely! ::)
So, yes. You did a full rockbox un-install.

Thanks for the quick reply.
What is the .mi4 file? I did a full search (including hidden files and folders) on my e: (the sansa) and it did not find one. If rockbox uninstall did not delete it then where would it have gone, or does the newest version of firmware not use the .mi4. Again I am a noob, so forgive me if these quesions seem simple.
I guess I should say... Does the sansapatcher.exe revert the firmware back to the orignal from the factory, or from a backup it does of "MY UNIT"? (sounds like a funny question, but am curious since some things seem different...see below for one example)
Also it always bothered me that the music scrolled along the bottom of the player when exiting to the main menu, and there was no way to stop it. (not bad to have, but would be nice to stop the song). I found that if I go to the photos and select a picture and then exit out the song would stop. After the uninstall of rockbox this no longer works. That is why am an concerned it is not fully back to normal. I can start the slide show and it works the way it did, but in the past it all i had to do was select one picture.
Thanks for the help, and for putting up with some noob questions.

To add to my post. Is the .MI4 file on a hidden partition on the Sansa, or should I be able to search it. on the standard partition? Read above post for my other quesions.
Thanks for helping a noob.

You won't find the mi4 file on your player- it is installed in a 16Mb hidden partition. As part of the Rockbox installation, you actually placed an unencrypted version in the 16 Mb hidden partition (this will actually make booting the OF faster). To restore to the stock encrypted OF, just run "Sansa Firmware Updater".
As a side note, as long as you restore the originally firmware before sending it to Sandisk for servicing- you are in the clear. I have also not heard of anyone not getting a RMA from Sandisk by running Rockbox. After all, it is they who contacted the developers for the port.

Thanks cpchan,
Sorry to sound dumb when I ask some of these questions.
When I ran the sansapatcher.exe and chose "U" for uninstall does it revert back to "orignial firmware"
Also, I did run the Sansa Firmware Updater and it showed that no firmware updates were available. (There was a new version of the Sansa Firmware Updater software though...and FYI..)
Since I ran the Firmware Updater am I back to "factory" even if there were no updates?
Long question short. Did either the sansapatcher.exe or the Firmware Updater get me back to exact factory firmware? In otherwords is it the exact same Firmware file in the exact same state that was on the e260 before the rockbox install?
Thanks,
I ask because it is behaving a little different...see above posts for details if you are interested. Thanks again. You guys are fast and very helpful.

Don't know, I have no reason to uninstall Rockbox (I bought my player for Rockbox). However, you don't need to run sansapatcher for that. People have successfully uninstalled Rockbox by just running "Sansa Firmware Updater" and removed the ".rockbox" directory (folder) on their player. Another method is to download the firmware, put it in the root directory of your player and disconnect. You can find links to the firmware and instructions here::

If you want to be safe, you can reinstall the firmware manually as mentioned above. However, if you are booting into the OF when powering on- your device have been restalled.

No, it would not be the one that was originally installed on your player, but the one the Sansapatcher updated to or what ever version was in the 16Mb partition.
If you have more question on your player, unrelated to Rockbox, please feel free to ask on the Sansa subforums at http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/index.php.
