Other - Installation/Removal / Re: FiiO M3K Install (Native port)
« Last post by Thew on May 17, 2022, 08:55:41 AM »On a side note, does anyone have tips for removing the micro SD card from the m3k? I don't need to remove it but upon trying to it seems really stuck in there. I don't want to damage the thing if I ever need to remove it.
I have two M3Ks and the SD cards on both spring out with no problem after a slight push inwards. However, I remember when the player first came out there were a couple of reviews that mentioned cards getting stuck so perhaps some have a fault.

« Last post by amachronic on May 17, 2022, 07:08:52 AM »I'm not sure if the native port has been tested on the Surfans F20. The NAND open error is a bit odd. Usually this would mean your flash chip is not supported, but since it worked eventually... meh. It's good you got it working, though!

I also have some suggestions to make the guide clearer:Thanks! I'll update the wiki page.
- On Step 5 there is a sentence that reads "Use the buttons on your to select Backup under the Bootloader menu.". There is a missing word between "your" and "to". Also should this specify that the volume buttons must be used to navigate?
- Personally I didn't know what to do after I completed Step 5, I didn't know what option to chose in the bootloader screen. Perhaps a sentence can be added to tell users to pick [Boot Select]->Rockbox if they wish to load into Rockbox.

If anything, it has a tendency to fly halfway across the room...

Plugins/Viewers / Re: Reading the rockbox manual on the device itself
« Last post by sunrize777 on May 17, 2022, 06:27:19 AM »I’ve already done this.
All you need to do is upload the pdf to a pdf to text converter.
There are tons of these kinds online
Here’s a reliable one: https://pdftotext.com/
This will work for all PDFs

Feature Ideas / Re: GBA Games on iPod Classic (6th or 7th gen) using iGPSP
« Last post by sunrize777 on May 16, 2022, 11:39:54 PM »Summing up facts is pointless unless there is someone interested and willing to put in the actual work hours. Given the age of that device this definitely will be the hardest problem. But if you're up to it the better. Just don't expect lots of people to find too much interest in such a thing these days. Just look at the development activity and active developers these days compared to like 10 years ago.
Also, if an approach appears to be simple it doesn't mean it will be easy to do, and it doesn't show in any way that it would be simple. In software you're usually hitting a lot of snakes along the way.
As I already said I’ve decided that if the developers know that it’s a possibility but won’t attempt it, I’ll try it myself. I’ve realized that almost no one is willing to put any more work into the firmwares like iPodLinux anymore. I even talked to the developer of the GBA emulator, Keripo, and he said he had long stopped working on the project, since 2014 actually, so that’s that, I’ll have to try it myself.
As for the warning of building software, thanks

Other - Installation/Removal / Surfans F20 "NAND open error"
« Last post by SelectOkay on May 16, 2022, 05:21:35 PM »I'm new to the forums and Rockbox, but I've installed it on a Sandisk Clip Zip without much issue. The problem is I bought a Surfans F20 and I can't install Rockbox on it.
I've tried using the Rockbox Utility but after using the firmware from the company itself, the utility constantly crashes.
SO I tried to use the native port and got farther, but now it's telling me "NAND open error (5)" I tried using two different mircoSD cards and even changing the partition from GPT to MBR but it's not working. Does anyone have any advice or help? I'm kinda stumped here.

Repairing and Upgrading Rockbox Capable Players / SD card in Gigabeat
« Last post by plank on May 16, 2022, 04:34:12 PM »I had a search on the forum for replacing the HDD in a Toshiba Gigabeat F with an SSD but everything seems to be mentioning CF cards, or CF to SD converters. Is there any particular reason people seem to be doing this rather than going for a straightforward ZIF-SD adaptor?
I was going to pick up a 40 pin ZIF to SD converter like the one in the link below but I don't want to waste money if there's a known compatibility issue.
