Title: Help with iPod Classic 6th gen
Post by: citadell19 on February 17, 2022, 01:36:47 PM
Hey, I tried to install rockbox on my 6th gen ipod but in the last part of the installation it said can't remount, and now when I try to restart it all it only pops out some text which I will type below:

Rockbox boot loader
Version: 1.0
Battery status ok: 4179 mV
Error!
Can't load rockbox.ipod:
File not found

Entering USB mode...
Bootloader USB mode

when I first plugged plugged it in it asked me to format this weird 192 mb partition which I did
after that itunes didn't really recognise it but after a few tries in emergency disk mode it did i tried to restore but that didn't work because when it tried to restart
it just gave me that same text. So if anyone can help me restore my ipod that would be very much appreciated.

I don't have an Ipod but it looks like you successfully installed the bootloader

But installing Rockbox is a 2 part process you have unzip the Rockbox build to the root of the main partition so the boot loader can actually boot Rockbox. The file the bootloader is looking for is rockbox.ipod which is contained it that rockbox-ipod6g-20220217.zip

This is only partially correct. You need the main Rockbox build, but it doesn't need to be the exact zip file mentioned. The easiest way to install it is Rockbox Utility which will automatically pick the most recent Rockbox build.
