Hardware / Re: Weird screen problem with 6th gen ipod
« Last post by Frankenpod on Today at 04:33:41 PM »Got a fresh iFlash (replacing the one with odd blemishes on the reverse) and now it seems to work. Sort-of.
Actually upgraded it to about 1.5TB (using up every spare micro SD card I had lying around), and, while it won't restore with iTunes (iTunes just fails to acknowledge that it's connected at all - couldn't seem to "see" it) and the screen still comes out totally blank when booted in original firmware mode; after using AOMEII to format it to FAT32 (and deleting the very small extra partition it saw at the start of the drive - I'm wondering if it was the one the Original Firmware resided in?) rockbox succesfully installed, and when in RB bootloader mode it succesfully syncs.
Still mystified as to what exactly this thing is doing.
The downside is synching in RB bootloader mode is horribly slow - even slower than synching in original firmware or disk mode on a 7.5gen (it takes about 45 hours to do a full initial synch even in OF mode on a 7.5 gen, this took even longer).
When booted in RB mode it seems to work fine, despite being a 6th gen with > 1TB storage. The puzzling thing is, even if I force it to boot into OF mode it doesn't corrupt, just comes up with that whited-out screen but goes back to working once rebooted in RB mode. Not that I want to risk testing that repeatedly.

Other - Installation/Removal / Re: I am at a stand still with Rockboxing my HIFI Walker, I've tried everything...

You hit the nail on the head, dconrad!
I hopped on and was like, "well, that's so simple, but I guess I'll try it..."
Sure enough, it did the trick!
Hahaha! I can't believe it was such a simple, silly mistake. I think I was confused because in the wiki it says to name it "update.upt".
Thank you much!!
Glad that's all it was

For what it's worth, I did rewrite the wiki page to hopefully be easier to understand and have Very Consistent Terminology.
Have fun!

Repairing and Upgrading Rockbox Capable Players / iPod Mini 512GB SSD Upgrade
« Last post by popper on Today at 03:20:45 AM »Hi. I do not think that this has been posted before.
Usually, I run a 256GB SSD on my iPod Mini, 2nd Gen. However, just for fun wanted to see if the Mini could handle a 512GB SSD upgrade. Just installed it, and it appears to be working perfectly. See below for pictures.
Pictures are of 1. The adapter and SSD that I used. 2. The Mini running on the Apple OS. 3. Running on Rockbox.
I guess my next project is to attempt to put in a 1TB SSD.

New Ports / Re: Tapir Player
« Last post by speachy on July 11, 2025, 02:09:40 PM »Thank you for your thoughtful response.Yes I think you are right about the DAC.
We'll probably use the SF32LB52-ULP schematic as a starting point, it's likely already cost-optimised.
https://oshwhub.com/li-chuang-kai-fa-ban/li-chuang-huang-shan-pai-sf32lb52-kai-fa-ban-v1-2
I'll post a schematic here when there's an initial design. The device should be easy to flash and debug.
BTW, I wrote up a "rockbox wishlist" some time ago, just some stuff to consider when putting together a schematic: https://www.shaftnet.org/~pizza/rb-wishlist.txt

Plugins/Viewers / PictureFlow in HiFi Walker - Green Tint
« Last post by GD on July 11, 2025, 12:51:54 PM »Hello everyone, I want to know if there is a specific reason why the PictureFlow plugin on the HiFi Walker appear with all the album arts tinted green. It's very strange, because when I look at the same plugin on iPod reviews with Rockbox it looks fine. Thank you for your time!

Hardware / Re: Battery tables
« Last post by bahus on July 11, 2025, 04:58:58 AM »Battery shows different higher voltage when charging hence different tables. You can try and calibrate those values for your battery if you see big differences.
It seems https://gerrit.rockbox.org/r/c/rockbox/+/6322 adds a way to adjust those values without recompilation.

Hardware / Re: Is there a way to enable the "Battery" option in settings for the Sansa E200 v1?
« Last post by bahus on July 11, 2025, 04:33:47 AM »disable charging via USB in order to prevent any damage to my batteries
Can be done in custom build by modifying powermgmt-ascodec.c. It seems emptying enable_charger(void) method should suffice:
Code: [Select]
static void enable_charger(void)
{
}
