Theming and Appearance Customization / Re: Ability to use album covers in lists
« Last post by nezzled on September 24, 2024, 10:19:12 PM »This might be a pointless expansion, but additional image support would also be cool
i.e. a playlist cover system and maybe even secondary images for songs (for themes to make use of custom background images for songs)... maybe that's too far but I find those neat.

Theming and Appearance Customization / Ability to use album covers in lists
« Last post by nezzled on September 24, 2024, 10:04:10 PM »Not sure what devices can handle this, but the ability for theme writers to add album covers instead of icons in themes would be awesome.
This is sort of like what's done on the color iPods.

Audio Playback, Database and Playlists / Re: Get 10 or 20 random albums to choose from

Audio Playback, Database and Playlists / Get 10 or 20 random albums to choose from
« Last post by jecaro on September 24, 2024, 03:40:03 AM »I recently bought a 256 Gb SD card and put all my music on my Sansa e280v1. I'm so stocked that it works so well out of the box after all these years and I want to take the opportunity to thank all the devs for this amazing software!
Anyway, now I have this big audio database, it is surprisingly hard to decide what to listen to. A feature that I love about logitech media server (https://lyrion.org/), is that it can show me 10 or 20 random albums from my database and with that I always find something cool to listen to.
Is it possible to do that kind of thing with rockbox as well?

Feature Ideas / Rockbox Simulator with screen only view
« Last post by lysolosyl on September 23, 2024, 03:02:51 PM »Hi,
I'm messing around on my Steamdeck which runs on linux. I can run Rockbox Simulator on it (running the windows .exe and using proton on the steamdeck for compatibility) and play music which is great because I love the UI of rockbox on my ipod 5g.
Can you launch the simulator without the ipod image and only display a window with the ipod screen? I don't need to see the ipod case including the click wheel. I just want the screen so that this essentially becomes a rockbox mp3 player on linux.

Hardware / Re: New Hardrive in IRiver iHP-120
« Last post by speachy on September 23, 2024, 12:04:47 PM »Then you can simply use an mSATA SSD for storage; format it appropriately as FAT32 with a GPT partition scheme (handy for a larger capacity drive) and you're set.
Booting off GPT system requires an updated bootloader, and one has not been created (much less tested) on the iHP-1xx/3xx family. Using GPT will also likely make the stock firmware unable to function (if you care about such things)
Also mSATA SSDs larger than 2TiB don't seem to be a thing yet. (At least not from reputable non-syllable-salad brands and in a form factor that will physically fit)
....So just stick to MBR for now.

Then you can simply use an mSATA SSD for storage; format it appropriately as FAT32 with a GPT partition scheme (handy for a larger capacity drive) and you're set.

Audio Playback, Database and Playlists / Re: Playing and browsing from the file browser has become sluggish on Clip+
« Last post by rdtyphn on September 22, 2024, 11:08:05 PM »Thanks for your reply.
It happens with the latest build. This happens exclusively with browsing the filetree. The specific files do not matter. I have checked the storage device for errors. It seems to happen when scrolling around through lots of file folders but sometimes will happen more quickly while browsing. The screen starts slowing down and showing corrupted looking text. It gets slower and choppier and impossible to browse. Then usually a crash happens. I've attached the screenshot of the crash.

Rockbox Utility / Rockbox installer crashes when installing bootloader on iPod Video?
« Last post by ianbattaglia on September 22, 2024, 06:44:49 PM »Hey all, I'm trying to install rockbox on a stock iPod classic video (5th gen), 30gb. The installer will install the firmware and themes and everything fine, but when I try and install the bootloader, it crashes. I've also tried the ipodpatcher utility, but it crashes the terminal window, too. I'm on Windows 11. Any ideas what I could try?
It's Rockbox Utility v1.5.1, installing Rockbox 3.15.
