Feature Ideas / Re: AutoEQ preset file support
« Last post by rockbox_dev123 on Today at 08:41:11 AM »Bumping this thread to state that https://autoeq.app/ has the ability to export EQ presets in Rockbox format.
Browse to any headphone preset you like and under "Select equalizer app" select "Rockbox" and you will then be able to press the download icon underneath the EQ table.

Hardware / Re: Battery tables
« Last post by rockbox_dev123 on Today at 04:36:51 AM »Thanks for the reply.
When I have some free time I'll see if I can patch so that the theme tag shows a consistent charge value regardless of how charging is handled internally by Rockbox.

Changing settings in genisoimage to get the untouched rootfs structure didn't work in a timely manner, so i used xorriso
xorriso -as mkisofs -volid 'CDROM' -JRU -joliet-long -o $workingdir_out/$updatefile $workingdir_out/image_contents/
This one didn't modify rootfs, and from what i have seen the beginning of xImage is also in tact, so i believe it could work.
I have to wait for Tempotec to drop an update to test doe
Also while i was trying to fix my mistakenly wiped mtd2 partition, i've found Ingenic ftp server and credentials, cuz they seem to change that thing once in a while.

Hi,
So is this from tempotec variations V1 player?
How did you get amixer to run?
Does tempotec variations V1 player have downloadable firmware for that player on their site?

Hardware / Re: Is there a way to enable the "Battery" option in settings for the Sansa E200 v1?
« Last post by djrz on July 13, 2025, 12:57:29 PM »Thanks for the tip but I've circumvented this with the Multiboot option.
Now I'm trying to figure out how to generate a new battery table. The battery benchmark plugin generated a battery_levels.default with the exact same table for the 750mAh Li-ion battery. I'll make sure to update this post whenever I get a chance to work on it.

Tempotec confuses me. Is this V1 a new device (using the X1600) or an old one (using the X1000E)? There was a V1 in 2019 already.
I thought all X1600 devices use this ‘new’ way without amixer.
genisoimage seems to modify rootfs in some way, no matter what options i remove or add, and xorriso works out of the box pretty much (i hope, since i can't try)
Yeah i also don't understand their choice here, it could be confusing, though it seems like the old was just "Tempotec V1", this one is "Tempotec Variations V1"

But yeah, i also was surprised that Hiby R1 and other devices are migrating away from alsa.

Hardware / Re: Weird screen problem with 6th gen ipod
« Last post by Frankenpod on July 12, 2025, 04:33:41 PM »Got a fresh iFlash (replacing the one with odd blemishes on the reverse) and now it seems to work. Sort-of.
Actually upgraded it to about 1.5TB (using up every spare micro SD card I had lying around), and, while it won't restore with iTunes (iTunes just fails to acknowledge that it's connected at all - couldn't seem to "see" it) and the screen still comes out totally blank when booted in original firmware mode; after using AOMEII to format it to FAT32 (and deleting the very small extra partition it saw at the start of the drive - I'm wondering if it was the one the Original Firmware resided in?) rockbox succesfully installed, and when in RB bootloader mode it succesfully syncs.
Still mystified as to what exactly this thing is doing.
The downside is synching in RB bootloader mode is horribly slow - even slower than synching in original firmware or disk mode on a 7.5gen (it takes about 45 hours to do a full initial synch even in OF mode on a 7.5 gen, this took even longer).
When booted in RB mode it seems to work fine, despite being a 6th gen with > 1TB storage. The puzzling thing is, even if I force it to boot into OF mode it doesn't corrupt, just comes up with that whited-out screen but goes back to working once rebooted in RB mode. Not that I want to risk testing that repeatedly.

You hit the nail on the head, dconrad!
I hopped on and was like, "well, that's so simple, but I guess I'll try it..."
Sure enough, it did the trick!
Hahaha! I can't believe it was such a simple, silly mistake. I think I was confused because in the wiki it says to name it "update.upt".
Thank you much!!
Glad that's all it was

For what it's worth, I did rewrite the wiki page to hopefully be easier to understand and have Very Consistent Terminology.
Have fun!

Repairing and Upgrading Rockbox Capable Players / iPod Mini 512GB SSD Upgrade
« Last post by popper on July 12, 2025, 03:20:45 AM »Hi. I do not think that this has been posted before.
Usually, I run a 256GB SSD on my iPod Mini, 2nd Gen. However, just for fun wanted to see if the Mini could handle a 512GB SSD upgrade. Just installed it, and it appears to be working perfectly. See below for pictures.
Pictures are of 1. The adapter and SSD that I used. 2. The Mini running on the Apple OS. 3. Running on Rockbox.
I guess my next project is to attempt to put in a 1TB SSD.
