Rockbox Utility / Re: ipod does not mount
« Last post by elonin on September 07, 2024, 10:55:39 AM »Not sure i understand the question. Do you mean restoring it to the itunes? If that is the case it should then mount to windows. I haven't seen a way to boot to apple with the rockbox software still on it. if it is off pushing select launches rockbox. From there if i select and menu (up) it reloads just rockbox.

Rockbox Utility / Re: ipod does not mount
« Last post by elonin on September 07, 2024, 09:34:51 AM »I'm running windows 11.
Yes, it did mount recognized by itunes and generated a drive letter with itunes, though i have had issues with that in the past (bad cable or ipod just not behaving).
I don't think my ipod is set for dual boot. When i use menu + select it reboots the rockbox but doesn't put it into a disk mode.
The reason i've wanted to change over to rockbox is playing different formats. Am I barking up the wrong tree?

Does it mount if you boot it with original firmware? (I mean, if it does, then just use that for file transfer - not sure why you'd need to mount it in RB mode specifically).
(Not that I have much idea what the problem is, but I'm assuming anyone who _could_ help you would probably need to know those things, especially which OS you are mounting it with).

Rockbox Utility / ipod does not mount
« Last post by elonin on September 07, 2024, 08:37:54 AM »I have an ipod classic 160gb and after installing rockbox it doesn't mount. it is recognized as a new usb (plays the connected sound), but does not have a drive letter. Matter of fact after a reboot it did pick up in itunes and was able to restore it to itunes firmware. At which point it remounts. Any help would be appreciated

Second obvious question: What version did you install, the latest stable (3.15) or a dev/daily build? Did you try both?

Other - Installation/Removal / Re: Help with Installing Rockbox on a HifiWalker H2 with Stock Firmware 1.8
« Last post by speachy on September 06, 2024, 08:02:14 AM »Just got my H2 today and the stock firmware is 1.8. I've tried following the steps for the hosted port and manual installation. But whenever I try to update the firmware in the system settings, it says "Upgrade failed, not found upgrade file".
...the most likely explanation is that you didn't rename the update file correctly.
Unfortunately problems with the factory recovery/update mode are not something we have the ability to meaningfully debug.

If you put a couple music files on there, does the stock firmware recognize it, and can you play it? That may point you to either SD card issues or something else.
As a shot in the dark, if the SD card you're using is exFAT, you could try reformatting it to FAT. I presume the stock firmware's updater can read exFAT since the main firmware can, but I don't know that for sure. I believe the on-device System Settings-->reset-->format tool will change it to FAT for you. Of course, you'll need to make a backup of everything on the card before formatting it, and then move it back over afterwards.
Another shot-in-the-dark thing to try... you could try using an unmodified update file first and see if that has success or the same issue.

The only button I can use is the volume. Is there a patch? I have tried all the daily and dev builds with same results. I saw some patches in development many years ago but not now.
