I try to use sansapatcher at my c250 v01.01.07F
at Gentoo Linux

but I also try at WinXP64 - same result

Did you run Sansapatcher as root?

Yes as root
I try it Gentoo Linux x86 and amd64
from

and compiled from svn too
Also in WinXP64 run as admin from

Found info about rockbox does not work with version 1.01.07

So I downgrade to 1.01.06
and try again

As one of the sad and angry >:( who installed the 1.01.07 before finding rockbox, where do I find the 1.01.06(E in my case) and how do I go about to donwgrade my c250?

Thanks for the reply.
Some comments on downgrading... (I found out the hard way. )
The firmware files are in 7zip format, so one needs to download the tools to un7zip them. (Google is your friend, also found the tools are easily installed in ubuntu)
After that, just follow the instructions for enabling service mode and install old software.
It took me better part of the evening, but now my mp3-player is running rockbox. Many thanks!

How does one stay up to date to know when RB will support .07 firmware?

Watch the changelog for a commit relevant to sansapatcher.

Well, IIRC the .07 firmware is already supported by sansapatcher, but no new binary release has been made since. You can build sansapatcher yourself. I'm preparing a couple of bigger changes to Rockbox Utility and most likely will provide a test binary then, as Rockbox Utility uses sansapatcher itself it will then also allow installing on .07. You might want to keep an eye on the RockboxUtility wiki page for that.

Yes I can confirm the sansapatcher in svn does work with the latest firmware.
The latest firmware reinstates the USB setting so is worth while all round IMHO.

I've uploaded a new windows binary of Rockbox Utility: http://www.stud.uni-karlsruhe.de/~uhcn/rockbox/rbutil/rbutilqt.7z
This is built from current svn with my current ongoing internal bootloader rework (shouldn't change much from a users point of view). This should work with the c200 '07 firmware. Feel free to try other bootloader installs too and report major issues to me (I'm aware of several minor glitches). Keep in mind that this isn't tested very well as of now.

Just tried New RBUtil and although it will install Rockbox, after warning a boot loader is already present, then says no sansaC200 found.
Sansapatcher made from svn still works and really strange RButil 1.0.6 (July) can now reinstall bootloader.

Just Uninstalled the Bootloader and RBUtil still reports no SansaC200 found.

Hey, new member here.
I have a c240 and have spent the last few hours going through the threads here and searching elsewhere online. I think i finally found a solution for my v1 which was giving me the same errors as the o.p. of this thread was getting.
I found this from another site:

this is for the early firmware, so I'm not sure if there's any disadvantage to this opposed to the newer firmware versions. Bottom line is that it WORKS. i just restarted the player and Rockbox is definitely there. The only place that I got an error in the graphic installer was when it was trying to install themes. Do the themes not work for the earlier firmware versions? not a big deal really but it would be nice to know.
I'm not sure if this solution has been already covered, but after searching, i never saw it, so I thought I'd share.

If you're referring to Rockbox Utility: currently installation of themes doesn't work due to server issues. The wiki page for Rockbox Utility has a note on that issue ... This has nothing to do with your original firmware version -- themes are dependent on the player, not on any firmware version.

Ah, ok. Now i remember reading that at some point, but I wasn't to that part of the install yet when I read it, and by the time i hit the error, I had forgot about it. The thing is though, I do have a few default themes. So does the themes pack have a bunch more or is it the same ones?
