Title: Changing songs with buttons but without waking the display
Post by: alex5908 on April 12, 2022, 08:11:49 PM
Hello Everybody,
I asked a question at another forum how to change songs with buttons but without waking the display. I got a response that it's in General Settings - System - Advanced Key Lock - Settings but I am not sure it is what I wanted. Besides in my HiFiMan HM 601 there's no Advanced key lock option .
Could anybody help how to do it?

Sounds like you want this: https://download.rockbox.org/daily/manual/rockbox-ipodcolor/rockbox-buildch8.html#x11-1460008.4

devices with a physical hold button do not have advanced key lock, it can be added in code but  most devices with real key lock don't allow you to do button presses when locked so its kinda pointless

Fortunateky you don't need advanced key lock you need selective backlight

Settings>General Settings>Display>LCD settings>Backlight Exemptions

It sounded good but did not work. Nothing has changed after altering these settings.

If I do this "Backlight.
The amount of time the backlight shines after a key press. If set to Off, the backlight will not light when a button is pressed." how shall I light it? It does not say it.

Works for me, on ipod classic.  Not sure why it doesn't work for you.  Are you using a recent version of Rockbox?  Or could there be something that stops that feature working on just that particular target?
