Title: Could Rockbox be used on a GPD2101A chip?
Post by: iPodFoo on March 20, 2023, 04:15:07 PM
I got one of these cheap mp3 players (https://tarkus-notes.com/en/chinese-mp3-player-ipod-shuffle-clone) but I thought might be a fun project to port Rockbox for it. The datasheet can be found here (http://tarkus-notes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/GPD2101A.pdf).

I realise Rockbox is more for players with screens but a super stripped down version that could add some features to players like that such as shuffle/repeat options and some audio options such as eq.

So basically just wondering if Rockbox could get a bootloader installed onto the GPD2101A chip or maybe run off the SD card?

I don't see anything about that chip having a CPU or RAM, so probably not. You need a 32 bit programmable CPU and memory to run an operating system like rockbox.
