Has anyone verified this works?

Someone in that thread you linked says it works on Windows 10 once you get the device to mount in MTP mode. Sounds like mtp is glitchy in some windows 10 builds but can be worked around.

OK, but does sendfirm.exe really require MTP mode?

It is a utility for communicating with players over MTP, so yes MTP is required.

Do you require some help with a Gigabeat S? I am currently working on finishing the port so it can move to stable.
