Title: Flac files crashing Sansa Clip +
Post by: posture_check on August 21, 2021, 05:52:51 PM
I have a Sansa Clip + that has had no issues playing FLAC files that I have acquired through Windows Media Player (ripping CDs) or through the ones I purchase off of bandcamp.

I recently uninstalled WMP and went to VLC player and am ripping my CDs from there. However the FLAC files that are ripped from VLC are crashing Rockbox with some error that says it "divided by zero."

Different FLAC settings do not offer different results and I can't seem to get WMP reinstalled on my computer.

Post a link to one of the files.

I'm unable to at the moment, but I can give you the rip settings.

Codec: Flac

Bitrate: 128 kb/s

Channels: 2

Sample Rate: 8000 Hz

Sometimes the default VLC FLAC rip won't even play on VLC, and trying a different setting for the FLAC files rips a version that sounds like it's being played underwater. MP3s are working just fine.

FLAC files do not allow setting a bit rate, and 8000 Hz is not right for a CD rip, so I suspect something is wrong with that information.

I'm only assuming those are the "default" settings as they're greyed out in VLC unless I choose to override them.
