New Ports / Re: AIGO EROS Q / AIGO EROS K / IRULU Surfans F20 / AGPTek H3 / HIFI WALKER H2

OK playing a 100 Hz sine test file I got a reading of -0.4 mV from the Line Out.

I think that converts to -8 dBV but I would suggest checking that.

I tried the zip listed on the AIGO Eros Q wiki page within the Native Port area and yes, the Line Out is working on my device with this version.  Great!

I'm still trying to make heads and tails of my multimeter so still need time to report a reading.  I haven't used one before and the closest memory in the ballpark would be using an oscilloscope and signal generator back in a Physics class many moons ago.  But I'm trying to get refreshed and will keep at it.

P.S. - I installed Room EQ Wizard for my distro and this is able to generate test WAV files for different frequencies.  So I have my 100 Hz test file at least.

Iriver - Installation/Removal/Flashing / Un- brick or Re- flash of iRiver H3xx devices
« Last post by mr_2022 on January 25, 2023, 08:04:35 PM »
Hey guys,

I was very happy to see a new bootloader version (https://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=53654.0) for the iRiver H1xx and H3xx. I've successfully upgraded som H120 and H140 devices with µSD Card-Mods just recently.

However, my old H340 ran on some mystic bootloader release, that was shared here http://hendrik.feuerware.com/rockbox.htm. I wanted to give it an update as well. So what I did, was the following:

Because I forgot the important details of the flashing procedures described here (https://www.rockbox.org/wiki/IriverFlashing), I just hit the iriver_flash on the version 8 bootloader.iriver file and boom (because I used this arcane and old rockbox version) my player was bricked. Just no way of powering it up, nor charging the battery via DC-plug.

Too bad! It nags me, that I screwed up my H340, for which I just bought a new battery...

So here my question if someone has attempted to reflash any H3xx device? If not I might buy into the descriptions given here https://www.rockbox.org/wiki/H1x0Reflashing and give it a go to reflash (unbrick) my H340 unit... with the new bootloader 8 version.
I still have to figure out what hardware I'd need for it. But I have soldering skills and Arduino/Teensy hardware at hand.

Any suggestions or tips or maybe guidance would be very welcome.

In any case thumbs up for any person who still contributes to rockbox in general and to the iRiver ports and bootloaders in particular.

Hardware / Re: Surfans F20 w/ v2.7 firmware: Clarification on state of support?
« Last post by therealrtz on January 25, 2023, 02:10:54 PM »
For some reason I couldn't install the fonts through RockBox utility (error about not enough space) so I downloaded and extracted to my computer and transferred to F20.
All good now!!! Thanks again dconrad and amachronic!!  ;)

Glad you got it sorted out! In case you haven't found it already, the font size can be changed by going to Settings --> Theme --> Font.

Argh!!! Just what I needed!! Forgot to rename file to update.upt. I feel soooo stoopid  ::) Now I just need to figure out how to change the font so I don't need a magnifier to read, lol!!!

Thank you so very much!!!

Have you tried manually installing the .upt file? These are the relevant instructions from the wiki:
  • Rename the patched firmware file to update.upt and place it into the root directory of the SD card.
  • Grab the latest daily build for the player and unzip it into the root directory of the SD card.
  • Go into the settings menu and select firmware update.
  • Upon reboot, select rockbox from the initial menu.

Wow, thanks for the quick response! :)
When I boot the F20 (firmware 2.7) I do NOT get the screen giving me a choice to load RockBox. I'm pretty sure it hasn't successfully loaded the boot-loader, my reasoning
is when I load the .upt file using the RockBox utility it closes the program after I select the file to load after prompting for original firmware. I am attempting to use the
F20-v27-patched.upt file from the download page. I do not have the original firmware file and can't seem to find a link for it anywhere including the Surfans site/google drive.
Perhaps my "google fu" has grown weak? I'm guessing it can be loaded as I've seen posts saying people have successfully loaded it. I'm thinking about trying to use jztool
to flash the boot-loader, worried about bricking my device :( And not having the original firmware on hand is very troubling as well. Any suggestions?

Thanks again for the response!!!

Thanks for the help @bluebrother

I was able to resolve tthe SSL failure issue by manually installing openssl as described here: https://stackoverflow.com/a/73604364/667913
