Hello,
Im new with Rockbox, and i'll wanted to give it a shot.
But when i launch the program (newest version), it says there is no ipod selected,
even if i press auto detect, it cannot find my ipod.
It only says E: (because that's my Ipod) and when i press OK, it says, no Ipod selected.
Is the Nano 4th Gen 8GB supported by this program, or is it just a stupid problem.
Kind regards,
inzolate.

Rockbox is an open source firmware for mp3 players, written from scratch. It runs on a wide range of players:
Apple: 1st through 5.5th generation iPod, iPod Mini and 1st generation iPod Nano
(not the Shuffle, 2nd/3rd/4th gen Nano, Classic or Touch)

Ok, thank you.
Is there gonna be an update so the 4th gen can be used to?
-
Not likely, there is too many (un-hacked) encryptions on the processor/firmware and there isnt really anybody interested in taking the time to start the port for this target.
-
But why iPod 5.5th gen and not nano 4th? I think more people have got nano than 'bigger' iPod!

Because it's a community effort, and the people who own the 4th generation Nano haven't done the work necessary to get Rockbox on it.
It only happens when people who own the player do the work.

But why iPod 5.5th gen and not nano 4th?
because the Nano 4G has an encrypted firmware making it much harder / impossible to run custom code.

Thinking doesn't change the facts.

It's a stupid problem with that Ipod model not being supported.

Impossible... Didn't know that. Though it's sad. Believe me or not, this keeps me from buying a new nano ;)
