Rockbox General Discussion / Re: AIGO EROS Q / K Native, Grey screen with new build
« Last post by dconrad on July 17, 2025, 01:51:38 PM »
Well the latest builds work fine on my hw4 unit, so I'm not sure what's going wrong. This is the first I have heard of display issues on hw4 units.

Can you elaborate what you mean by "grey screen"? Do you mean that the UI colors are inverted, or the UI is normal but kind of grey in color, or do you mean there is nothing on screen but grey?

If the UI is at all usable, it would be useful if you could, with the latest daily build, tell us what you get when you go to System --> Debug --> Device data. It would also be helpful if you could boot the player with the key combo Volume Up + Power and tell us what the version string at the bottom of the screen says.

Ok now i tested all of the bootloaders just in case, still get the grey screen on newest rockbox. But if its the sd card, how come it works with this specific rockbox version? The one i have works. But not the new ones.
EDIT: i changed the sd card and its still an issue

Interesting that this is a hw4 unit. I would also suspect SD card corruption - or at least that is the first thing I would try to rule out, given the suspicious file playback issues. Do you have another SD card that you trust?

Hi sorry, i thought i was specific, but i wasn't. I have a hifi walker h2, i dont remember what firmware it had. i had this bootloader installed hw4
Hifiwalker H2 v1.9 - v2.2, erosqnative-hw4-erosq_2024.upt. The original firmware was something between v1.9 and v2.2 that much i remember.

Well NOS would be the NO_OVERSAMPLE, and DoP is DSD over PCM, I wonder how they made ALSAless playback work

In addition to that, the front page also has links to the list of changes within the past four weeks, and the list of changes since the last release.

Also, the daily build download page for each device includes a link to the changes for each build (if any).

Finally, the wiki also has a more curated list of notable changes here:  https://www.rockbox.org/wiki/MajorChanges  (but that's edited manually and I haven't updated it since early June.  Can't seem to persuade anyone else to help me keep it properly updated, so...)

Amazing! thank you so much!

Will test extensively (48KHz should work fine...?) and it may be the case that you saved my lazy DJ-set! ;)

Thanks!! <3 <3 <3

I updated to latest bootloader still the same issue

The old build you were running was hardcoded to using a single hardware revision (there are at least five now), whereas the new builds expect the bootloader to pass this information so we can behave correctly.

So, the details matter.  Who made your device, what firmware was it shipped with, and what was the _exact_ bootloader you installed?

(EDIT:  instead of saying "the latest" you should say something like "erosqnative-hw3-erosq.upt downloaded from the wiki as of 2025-07-15" and instead of "AIGO EROS Q/K native" you should say something like "Surfans F20 V3.0".  In other words, the instructions that are highlighted by a red box above the text window when posting here )

When i update to the latest build on my AIGO EROS Q / K (Native i get grey screen. But an very old build from 2024-04 something is the only one that works. No other (old build) is working, all the old builds that i can download is from 2025 something. I need older versions to see what after 2024-04 works, but i cant find them. Why do i get grey screen with the newer builds?

Install an up-to-date bootloader.

I also have issue with some tracks not playing and they are being skipped even though they worked before, when i replace the file with the same song it works for a time to later not work again. And some songs makes the whole rockbox stall so i have to restart rockbox. but when i replace those exact songs with the same song it works again. Thats why i want to try newer rockbox builds and see if that fixes the problem

This sounds like a SD card that's corrupted or failing outright.  (Assuming this behavior occurs with current builds, anyway)
